Rebecca Brisbane

Rebecca is a Chartered and HCPC Registered Forensic Psychologist with over twelve years of experience working across diverse academic, forensic and mental health settings. Her career began as a Research Assistant working with children and young people involved in the foster care system. This evolved to further research areas including young people experiencing severe and enduring mental health disorders. Following this, she spent seven years with the Scottish Prison Service training as a Forensic Psychologist, where she delivered specialised, offense-focused interventions addressing issues like violence, substance misuse, and intimate partner violence. She also played a key role in developing a compassion-focused program for female offenders. In addition, she supervised and trained assistant psychologists and prison officers in group work skills, report writing and delivering of offence focussed interventions. Beyond her work with the prison service, Rebecca spent six years as a panel member of the Children's Hearing System providing her with invaluable experience in working with children, young people, and their families.

Since 2024, Rebecca has been working in forensic mental health, serving as a Forensic Psychologist in an independent low-secure hospital. In this role, she provides therapeutic interventions and psychological risk assessments for individuals with severe and enduring mental health difficulties, such as Schizophrenia and Personality Disorder. She provides training, supervision and reflective practice to staff, as well as contributing to research, and holding a position on the senior management team.
