Dr Natalie Brotherton

Natalie is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who is Chartered with the British Psychological Society and is a Registered Practitioner with the Health and Care Professions Council. She is currently employed within an independent medium secure hospital where she works primarily with males diagnosed with intellectual disability, autistic spectrum condition, personality disorder and mental illness. Natalie also delivers individual and group Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) within the female service, where she works with women with a primary diagnosis of personality disorder with complex risk.

Her forensic experience also includes working within a high secure setting. She currently leads a project aimed at implementing an overarching 'Positive Behavioural Support' framework across the regional services. This project has recently received a nomination for the 2016 national learning disability awards. Natalie has also worked in various settings within the NHS. She is an experienced therapist, having delivered evidence based therapies to adults, children, older adults and individuals with intellectual disabilities.

As an expert witness, Natalie has prepared numerous professional reports during her career including assessments of intellectual disability, mental health issues, personality disorder and psychopathy and risk of violence and sexual violence. Natalie is able to undertake assessments for prison and criminal proceedings including parole reports, pre-sentence reports and post-sentence reports as well as assessments for civil proceedings, including parenting assessments for family proceedings.
