Cayne is a registered Forensic Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council and is a full member of the British Psychological Society and Division of Forensic Psychology.

Cayne has over 23 years of experience in the field of psychology, he has developed extensive expertise across a range of secure and community-based settings. He has worked in male and female adult secure psychiatric hospitals for 15 years, including six years as Lead Psychologist, where he was responsible for the psychological care and risk management of individuals with complex needs. Prior to this, he spent five years within Her Majesty’s Prison Service.

In addition to his experience in secure settings, Cayne also worked for two years in the community, providing evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment to children and young adults living in residential therapeutic placements. Currently, Cayne works independently as a consultant and associate for various organisations, continuing to provide expert psychological input in both clinical and forensic contexts.

Cayne possesses extensive experience in psychological assessment, formulation, treatment, and the management of psychological risk, with a particular focus on individuals with complex presentations. He is highly experienced in the use of a wide range of psychological assessments (detailed in his attached CV) and is trained in different therapeutic interventions. He has a wealth of experience in providing expert witness evidence in formal settings, such as Parole Board hearings and Mental Health Review Tribunals.
